Kyode's Story

I never thought that 16 years ago, while working as an IT instructor and Supervisor at the London Borough of Camden, I would be asked to share my thoughts on how I fell into Hospitality? In truth, I did not choose this sector as my career path - it chose me. During the post-2008 financial crisis, I completed an ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage. I became a freelance mobile therapist. As a freelancer, I completed several beauty qualifications, including exercise to music level 2, Lesmils BodySteps and BodyAttack. There was a skills gap in the spa industry for male spa managers – I capitalised on the opportunity and, in June 2018, graduated with First Class Honours BSc Degree in International Spa Management from the University of Derby.

I fell in love with the hospitality business. I love people, and I am passionate about service delivery and creating a memorable guest experience.

I have worked in a few 4 and 5 stars independent spas. But, little did I know I had discovered an industry I would fall in love with. Moving through the ranks as a spa therapist, spa coordinator/receptionist, Supervisor, Leisure and Spa Manager between different hospitality environments, I realised I had found my future. So, in 2019, I graduated from the University of West London with a Post Graduate Degree with Distinction in Luxury Hospitality Management.

Throughout my career working within the hospitality industry, I have been lucky to meet some incredible people - both clients & other hospitality professionals - who love their job, industry, and the world.

I love the diversity and culture within the team — that no day is the same as another and the fast pace of work. In particular to this role, it is the potential and opportunity to grow talent and change people's lives, a tremendous responsibility that is very rewarding when you can witness the results!
