Festive fun at home

It's the most magical time of the year...

Fun Home Activities

Celebrate the joy of Christmas at home!

With the weather getting colder and colder, many of us are staying inside and looking for fun things to do to keep everyone entertained.

Take a look at some of our favourite home activities below!

  • Cosy Night In

A brilliant way to spend a cold winter evening is to make your own hot chocolate station.

It is surprisingly easy to achieve and something all the family can enjoy. Grab your hot chocolate powder of choice, whipped cream, toppings and your favourite Christmas mug.

Then, using small jars or bowls line up your items in order, starting with the hot chocolate powder & finishing with the best bit - the toppings!

Invite your children to make up their drinks (under adult supervision), snuggle up under a blanket and watch a lovely Christmas film.

Top Tip: Christmas is the perfect excuse to go EXTRA with the toppings!

  • Christmas Card Crafts

Who does not love receiving a handmade Christmas card?

Bringing so much joy to Grandparents and family members each year, making your own Christmas cards with your children is a great Christmas tradition.

Top Tip: Do not forget to make one for yourself to keep!

  • Festive Baking

One of the best things about Christmas is all the yummy food we get to eat - from mince pies to gingerbread houses, there are many different festive food ideas you can make at home.

A favourite creation of ours are Marshmallow Snowmen. Stack 3 marshmallows together (using icing sugar as glue), stick them on top of a biscuit and add any details with black icing - your little ones will love them.

Top Tip: If you are not the best baker, buy a pre-made gingerbread house to decorate!

  • Tree Decoration Crafts

Crafting is a great way to spend some time together this Christmas.

Using things you already own, such as left over ribbon, bows and scrap pieces of wrapping paper, you can create brilliant tree decorations that will stay in your family forever.

Top Tip: Keep track of when your creations were made by writing 2020 on the bottom or back.

  • Virtual Family Quiz

If 2020 has taught us anything, it is that we all love an online quiz!

Bring your family together for a night of virtual fun, as you either host or participate in a special Christmas-themed quiz. Make sure to include all of your classic rounds.

You can make your quiz extra exciting with a round of 'Guess the Christmas Character'. Simply impose pictures of family members onto the faces of classic Christmas film or tv characters & ask them to name the hidden character - there are plenty of free online websites you can use.

Top Tip: Award extra points to those dressed in their best festive attire.
