Jane Trail

Jane Austen Heritage Trail- 10 miles (20 minutes drivetime)

Discover Jane Austen's world on the Jane Austen Heritage Trail walking tour.

The trail starts on Alton High Street, where Jane and her sister Cassandra frequently visited for shopping and entertainment. Visit Jane Austen's house and Chawton House Library during your tour.

The walking tour is 1.5 miles and ideal for families wishing to uncover a small part of this regions history.

Civil War Trail

The Civil War Trail - 2 miles (7 minutes drivetime)

A seven mile circular walk which takes about three hours to complete (shorter routes available) is an educational yet fun outdoor activity for families visiting Hampshire.

The trail takes you through the famous Civil Warsite of Basing House, Eastrop Park, War Memorial Park and Basingstoke Common.

The Vyne

The Vyne - 4 miles (13 minutes drivetime)

The Vyne is a National Trust site which offers a varied family day out.

You can explore the family home discovering its royal Tudor beginnings, a pre-reformation chapel once visited by Henry VIII and a classically inspired 18th century staircase hall. 

The Vyne has recently opened an immersive 'moving tapestries' attraction where music will transport you to the visit of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn in 1535 followed by a fantastic insight into the Victorian owner who saved the house from disrepair in 1842.

The Vyne offers a wonderful outdoor space, perfect for a family walk or if the weather is kind, a family picnic!

Basingstoke Leisure Park

Basingstoke Leisure Park - 3 miles (11 minutes drivetime)

Basingstoke Leisure Park offers an array of activities that the whole family can enjoy.
