QHotels goes the extra mile to raise £82,000 for NSPCC in first year

QHotels is celebrating a successful first year in partnership with the NSPCC, raising an outstanding £82,000 for the charity, exceeding its initial target of £75,000.

The three-year partnership, which launched in June 2016, aims to bring guests and employees together across the hotel group to raise vital funds for the children's charity.

QHotels' employees have embraced fundraising, racking up the miles in a number of challenges throughout the year including the Great North Run, the London Marathon, The Three Peaks Challenge and The Wolf Run.

They have also raced 38 floors to the top of the Gherkin and completed a number of sky dives.

Each of its 26 hotels across the UK also hosted a number of fun and creative community events offering up different ways for guests to get involved, from golf days and Easter egg hunts to summer fetes.

QHotels' 20,000 leisure club members and leisure club employees have also got behind the cause, collectively pedalling 2,699km - the distance from QHotels' southernmost hotel, the Ashford International in Kent, to the The Westerwood Hotel in Scotland, and back again.

The group's Ashford International Hotel topped the QHotels chart for fundraising, collecting over £10,000 through a range of activities such as a Christmas Carol event, Gala Ball and the Three Peaks challenge.

Now entering its second year, QHotels is reconfirming its commitment to the cause, with the launch of a new charitable incentive for corporate bookers.

The new package enables organisations arranging an event to donate the five per cent cashback they can receive in high street vouchers to the NSPCC.

QHotels customers will also continue to have the option to make a £1 donation to the NSPCC with every online booking.

Caroline Brennan, Senior Partnerships Manager at NSPCC, said: "It has been a real privilege working with the QHotels team in the first year of our partnership.  Their commitment to raising money for us has been outstanding and it has been great how they have involved both employees and guests in fundraising drives.

"Excitingly, the second year of the partnership is shaping up to be even better than the first with a number of new events and initiatives being organised across the UK."

Michael Purtill, Managing Director at QHotels said: "We've been amazed by the hard work, passion and commitment that has gone into the impressive fundraising schedule over the past year, which has resulted in us surpassing our ambitious target by £7,000.

"With family-friendly hotels across the UK, supporting the NSPCC was a natural fit for QHotels and the response from our guests and employees has been truly inspiring.

"Going into our second year of partnership, we're determined to keep breaking targets to raise money for this incredibly important cause with a range of creative activities and events across all hotels."
