Food fit for a king: Norton Park celebrates new BBC series Wolf Hall

WolfHall

To celebrate the start of the much anticipated BBC series, Wolf Hall, a Winchester hotel is offering guests the opportunitity to experience traditional Tudor dining with all the trimmings.

From February, Norton Park, one of QHotels' 27 luxury and unique hotels, is offering the opportunity to enjoy Tudor-inspired banquets for up to 80 in its recently refurbished tithe barn.

While seated on long tables and maybe even dressed in Tudor gowns, guests can enjoy sixteenth century fare in 21st century comfort in the barn which integrates state-of-the-art under-floor heating and new, modern fixtures and fittings along with the traditional thatched roof, oak beams and oak flooring.

Tom Fromm, General Manager of Norton Park, said: "We are all aware of the extravagant feasts and banquets of the Tudor period and as Britain enjoys watching Wolf Hall and learning more about the lavish leisure activities of the time, we wanted to offer our customers the chance to experience it for themselves in our state-of-the-art tithe barn.

"Food from this period was known to be opulent and extravagant, combining new ingredients, flavours and spices imported from new-found lands. While we will not be serving a Peacock centrepiece on our menu, guests can still expect to be fully immersed in the Tudor period with entertainment from jesters and court minstrels."

We expect our Tudor banquets to appeal to Hampshire companies and associations who are looking for an unusual but very topical themed gathering.

The Wolf Hall series, based on the Booker Prize winning novel about Henry VIII and his advisor Thomas Cromwell, was partly shot in Winchester with the Great Hall cathedral and the Hospital of St Cross featured.

Tudor banquet packages are available from £50 per person, please contact Norton Park for more information call 01962 763009.
