QHotels is investing over £1.5 million in creating a much
needed, city centre day spa brand inside the iconic Manchester
hotel, The Midland. The former health club is currently being
completely replaced with a new, uber-chic, yet highly accessible
spa which is set to open in June 2015. The new spa brand will
appeal to the local market in Manchester in the same way that the
hugely popular and award winning restaurants 'The
French' by Simon Rogan and 'Mr Coopers House & Garden' (which
are also housed at The Midland) have, whilst still providing a spa
experience for the residents of the hotel.
Once launched, The Spa at The Midland (as it will be known) will
provide high-quality ESPA and Jessica treatments in premium
surroundings for both day and residential guests. The spa will
boast several relaxation areas, a sauna and steam room, a
relaxation pool, eight treatment rooms, a Rasul (a steam and
heat treatment, where you apply your own therapeutic muds) and a
stylish, secluded spa café.
One of the key aspects of The Spa at The Midland will be to not
only offer relaxing massages, sumptuous facials and a range of
premium beauty and nail treatments, but also include a large
relaxation space for individuals and groups, with unique
'relaxation cocoons' and 'sleep chambers' to meet the increasing
for mindfulness and tranquillity just a short step away from the
cosmopolitan, lively streets of Manchester.
Pre-treatment areas will overlook the relaxation pool, where
guests will be able to pre-select real-time updated music they
would like during their treatment. The rooms themselves will
have a striking feature wall and treatment beds will each have
heated blankets for the most comfortable experience possible.
will be calming and soothing to give the experience of being
detached from the city life outside.
Crucially, the treatment offering will also include a section
focused on the 'urban' beauty market using the latest facial and
body technological concepts for those who demand rapid results.
This, along with its central location, will ensure that The Spa at
The Midland becomes a premium beauty destination for people in
Manchester for a treatment or a full, rejuvenating spa day.
A new, premium, exclusive gym membership will also be introduced
for a maximum of 200 privileged members who can take advantage of a
truly personal and secluded environment, plus individual training
with the on-site Personal Trainers and the latest Pulse gym
equipment with integrated screens, programmed to each
member's fitness requirements.
Charlie Thompson, Group Spa Support Manager at QHotels and Chair
of the UK Spa Association, said "The plans for The Spa at The
Midland are incredibly exciting, and our key objective is to
provide Manchester with a first-class day spa and beauty
destination for quality treatments, and provide relaxing packages
for overnight spa guests in the 312 bedroom hotel. Careful
consideration has been given to ensuring the customer journey is
both premium and smooth from start to finish, and there has been
huge attention to ensuring the spa compliments the existing
restaurant brands in the hotel by appealing directly to the local
market. We have huge ambitions to become the 'go-to' spa in
Manchester, a city that is second only to London in demand for spa
The spa refurbishment follows an incredibly successful year of
high-profile endorsements for The Midland including Hotel of the
Year at The Cateys - an awarding body that recognises and
celebrates the individuals, teams and businesses in the hospitality
