IOSH at THE WESTERWOOD HOTEL & GOLF RESORT

When planning an event which brings together delegates from around the world, success can hinge on two factors: Firstly, your chosen venue must be accessible via a range of transport options.  Secondly, a tailored package is usually necessary to meet the varied needs of your delegates.

For IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health), the world's largest professional health and safety membership organisation, their four day conference which brought together 140 delegates from around the globe raised just these challenges.

IOSH knew that their chosen hotel, The Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort, would tick all the boxes as their event organisers had recently attended the hotel's re-launch event for the Carrick Suite.  This suite can host up to 400 delegates in flexible space within the hotel's purpose-built, state-of-the-art conference centre.

Equidistant between Glasgow and Edinburgh airports, with both mainline and regional train stations easily accessible and situated just off the M80, however the IOSH delegates were travelling they were able to convene with the minimum of fuss.

The event organisers were also delighted to discover that a truly bespoke dining menu could be created for their conference, satisfying their brief of providing a 'Tour of the British Isles'.  From Chicken Tikka Masala and English Cream Tea, to a whisky and chocolate matching session, the event guests were treated to a showcase of the best of British cuisine - a perfect way to avoid the criticism sometimes levelled at single-venue based events, that you feel like you could be anywhere in the world.

The event organisers also seized the opportunity to inject some local flavour into the entertainment with a Pipe Major to welcome guests and an evening Ceilidh (in which the hotel's Banqueting Manager was an enthusiastic participant) as well as using a local Jazz trio on another, more relaxed evening.

Jordan Charles, Conference Manager at The Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort worked very closely with IOSH's Louise Appleby both throughout the planning process and during the week of the event and the success of the event is testament to the strong working relationship established.
