William Grant & Sons @ Norton Park

In August, William Grant & Sons UK Ltd ran a two day conference at Norton Park for 80 delegates. Caroline Ingle of Norton Park Events Team explains how they made sure this event went without a hitch.

William Grant & Sons is a family owned distiller which was established in 1887. This premium spirits organisation has a portfolio of award-winning brands which you'll recognise instantly including Glenfiddich, Hendrick's Gin, Sailor Jerry and Grant's Whisky.

What event space did they need at Norton Park?
William Grant & Sons required a large conference space with three syndicate rooms. The main conference room was used for the opening and closing of the conference and to inform delegates of which group they were in and how the two days were to be organised. Groups then went to their syndicates for 2015 planning sessions and some product tastings over the course of two days.

What did we do especially for them?
Their main event was a BBQ on the Wednesday evening. There were four bars inside the barn and another outdoors on the lawn alongside a BBQ. Each bar had its own brand to showcase and the BBQ provider was also showcasing an existing partnership with Sailor Jerry rum. After the BBQ they moved inside to the conservatory where another bar was set up.

What were the challenges?
When a conference is booked for August, your client imagines warm sunny evenings and with Norton Park's beautiful grounds the idea of an outdoor drinks reception is fabulous. The reality is that the English summer weather is not so dependable and in the days leading up to the event we had showery weather. We made sure that if the showers came the event would not be disrupted in the slightest.

Rebecca Hester, Events Manager at William Grant & Sons UK commented on how they felt the conference went: "We have used Norton Park before so the team were used to our requirements, their understanding of our event was excellent. We did have several last minute and sometimes unusual requests, but as always we felt truly supported, and the team there led by Miles over the two days dealt with everything professionally and in a friendly manner."
