Nottingham Belfry Supports Local Students

As part of the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) project, four students from a selection of training providers including Portland College, Vision West Nottinghamshire College and Brackenhill Special School, have each completed four-week placements at the hotel where tasks included working in the restaurant to serve both hotel and conference guests and working alongside the Room Attendants to ensure guest rooms met the hotel's high standards.

To mark their success, the students will be joined at the hotel by their families and representatives from the training providers and Nottinghamshire County Council on 24th July for a special presentation ceremony.

The hotel prides itself on implementing numerous training programmes, incentives and workshops, designed to equip employees with the specific skills and knowledge required in the hospitality industry.

General Manager at The Nottingham Belfry, Claire Steven, said: "The enthusiasm of the four students who took part in the project was really impressive. They each found the experience invaluable and learnt everything from housekeeping routines and restaurant service to top tips in ensuring we deliver first class service to our guests. We look forward to welcoming more students to take part in the programme in the future."

Proving that the students really have learnt from the best, the hotel is celebrating after being named Employer of the Year by Portland College, an independent specialist college based near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
