Local Telford hotel takes on charity challenge to help poorly pets

Staff at Telford Hotel & Golf Resort have picked leading veterinary charity PDSA, whose head office is based in Priorslee, Telford, as their charity of the year for 2013/14. They have challenged themselves to raise £2,500 to help treat sick and injured pets in need.

Members of staff have donned animal costumes to mark the start of their campaign, demonstrating some of the fundraising activities and events they plan to hold over the coming months.

They will be holding charity spa nights,  golf days, coffee mornings and cake sales for their clients and guests. The staff themselves will be taking on a sponsored swim, and also a sponsored virtual channel row, in which team members will form a tag team to continuously row the 33 mile distance across the English Channel.

QHotels HR Manager at Telford Hotel & Golf Resort, Jeanette Karimdeen, said, "Our staff wanted to pick a charity that really makes a difference, as well as one that is very local to us. PDSA's is the ideal choice as not only are they based just down the road from us, we know the money we raise will help poorly pets in need."

PDSA provides free veterinary care for the sick and injured pets of local people in need. In 2012 the charity provided more than 2.3 million free treatments through its network of 51 pet hospitals across the country. PDSA receives no Government or lottery funding to provide its veterinary services, relying entirely on generous public support to continue its vital work.
