QHotels' Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Resort proudly hosted the prestigious Boys Home International Championship on 6th - 8th August and to celebrate the event's success, the hotel and 27-hole championship golf resort with driving range and putting green, is offering a limited number of free hour- long golf lessons to kick start youngsters.
The annual tournament, in its 85th year, saw the UK's best under-18 golfers compete for the R&A (Royal & Ancient) trophy. Established in 1923, the tournament has seen the likes of Rory McIlroy and Justin Hope play. This year Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales played a series of round-robin matches and it was one of the most anticipated youth events in the golfing calendar.
Group Golf Manager at QHotels, Andrew Cook said: "The Forest Pines golf course has hosted some of the country's top tournaments, including the PGA 4-ball championships, Junior Golf Championships and the Euro Pro Qualifier but this was the most prestigious event so far.
"What we want is for more of our younger locals from Lincolnshire to get involved in golf and try the sport out. Golf is a great way for children to keep fit and with its spectacular woodland surrounds, the course offers the perfect balance of challenging but long and open fairways. We expect our free lessons to be very popular, so register your interest as soon as possible to avoid missing out."
Forest Pines' Resident Golf Professional, Dan Greenwood said: "It was such a privilege to host such an inspiring tournament and we hope that youngsters in the local area will get involved in our free golf lessons and perfect their swing on our 28-hole championship golf course. It's a fantastic recognition of Forest Pines' facilities and hardworking staff that the R&A chose to host the tournament with us."
Nestled in 190 acres of beautiful woodland, the Forest Pines golf course has been ranked among the UK's leading winter courses and boasts three 9-hole golf courses, covering 10,000 yards.
