The Midland Hotel Reveal Mr Cooper’s House & Garden as the Name of Simon Rogan’s Second Restaurant

The 150-seat restaurant, with 50-cover destination bar, replaces The Colony at the prestigious Manchester property, but it marks an entirely new avenue for Rogan with the introduction of more varied, international style and menus.

Named after Mr Cooper whose house and garden sat on the site back in 1819, the hotel chose the name for the second restaurant to reflect their history and heritage, something they remain extremely proud of. Mr Cooper was a popular figure in Manchester, serving the local community with the sale of fresh food.

Mike Magrane, General Manager at The Midland, said: "The restaurant will bring a completely new concept to the market, and represent a break away from Simon's current British repertoire by offering a more international flavour.  It is going to be a more informal offer than The French and will appeal to a wide audience."

Simon Rogan added: "Mr Cooper's is going to be an exciting new challenge for us - it's a bigger site than we have done before and we will be spreading our culinary reach beyond our usual UK-only ingredients, taking influences from all over the world."

This exciting announcement follows the reopening of 50-seat Restaurant, The French, which Rogan reopened last month to rave reviews. The Colony will close in the summer for an extensive refurbishment, reopening as Mr Cooper's House & Garden in September 2013.
