We all make them at the start of January but how do we
ensure that we stick to our New Year resolutions?
(1) Write down your resolutions - by writing
down your goals as it's not only a great way to accomplish them,
but your list can also help you figure out the exact steps needed
to get there.
(2) Make resolutions realistic and managable -
The key is to make small changes gradually. So if your goal is to
go from never running to finishing a half-marathon, start training

chunks: Instead of aiming to do 10,000 sit ups throughout
the year (a very scary figure!), you could aim to do 192 sit ups a
week (still a big figure!) but to say you'll do 29 sit ups a day is
much easier to comprehend isn't it?!
(4) Treat yourself: Once you hit a milestone
treat yourself! Whether that's a day out with a friend or a spa
treatment to help you relax and unwind; you'll feel much more
motivated after treating yourself!
(5) Question your resolutions constantly! Ask
yourself some introspective questions: Why did you make this
resolution? What do you want to achieve? Developing answers that
elicit a powerful emotional response can help motivate your
(6) Ask for help! Not knowing how to do a
certain exercise is no excuse to write it off completely. If you're
curious about how you can try a new exercise or use a piece of
equipment just ask one of our friendly health club team as they're
more than happy to help!
