Kylie has worked for QHotels for 3 years. She's been in the hotel industry since school, having studied for a GNVQ in Hotel Management and Catering. Earlier this year she was awarded 'Agency Manager of the Year' at the annual QHotels Sales Conference.

It was an easy journey to work today, downstairs to my office! I've been away for the last 5 nights, travelling around several of our hotels.  While I enjoy these visits and the chance to spend time with our General Managers and the teams who manage our events, there's no place like your own bed!.

Most of my day has been spent catching up on emails and speaking to some of our clients - Calder Conferences, Banks Sadler and KPMG.  A large part of my role is focused on relationship building. I'm in regular contact with our clients and not just when they're at the stage of booking an event, I need to understand how best i can help them.   

Today was a good day, with a brand new enquiry for 20 different dates for 40-60 people. It's great receiving these opportunities and working out which of our 21 hotels would be the best fit - this time I think Ashford International Hotel would suit the client perfectly partly because it's such versatile space with 19 separate meeting or conference rooms, but also because it's so accessible from London, which was important to this client.

Once I'd spoken to my clients I spent a bit of time speaking to some of my sales team colleagues who work at both a regional and local level.  By the end of the day I'd spent several hours talking on the phone.  You have to be a sociable person to work in the hotel industry!

I'm very proud to work for QHotels as it is such a great hotel chain. They're always looking for ways to improve the customer experience - whether that's by bringing innovative services to the market, by the way they monitor and respond to feedback from our customers, or just from the way they recruit the right people who genuinely enjoy looking after our guests.  Of course, happy customers makes my job easier too.
