Historic venues perfect for Halloween

As Halloween approaches, we're celebrating all things ghostly with a run-down of QHotels' historic venues, perfect for creating the spook factor for your next event!

Crewe Hall, Cheshire

Perfect for: Large conferences

Crewe Hall is a Jacobean mansion located near Crewe in Cheshire and celebrated 400 years since the first brick was laid in 2016.  Built between 1615 and 1636 for Sir Randolph Crewe, it was one of the county's largest houses in the 17th century, and was said to have "brought London into Cheshire".

The hall was extended in the late 18th century and extensively restored by architect E. M. Barry - son of Charles Barry who built Westminster Palace and Highclere Castle of Downton Abbey fame - after a fire in 1866.  It is considered among his best works, alongside the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.

Today the majestic grade 1 listed building stands proud in the heart of the Cheshire countryside having played host to royalty throughout the years.

Blending historical elegance and modern features, the hotel's Old Hall showcases the venue's history, from stunning marble fireplaces to the intricacies of the carved wood and stained glass windows. QHotels has skilfully ensured that the hotel also meets the needs of guests today, with the addition of a contemporary wing, health club and events centre.

The event space:

Crewe Hall features 17 conference and event spaces for up to 364 delegates.

The Old Hall offers conference organisers an inspiring setting for a large conference or corporate event.  However, behind the historic hall is Crewe's best kept secret, a state-of-the-art, self-contained, purpose built events centre. Striking in design it boasts eight multi-purpose conference and event suites.
