1. Tell us about your apprenticeship

I began my Level 3 Professional Cookery Apprenticeship with Stratford-upon-Avon College in November 2015 and as part of that I'm employed as a commis chef in the larder section at Stratford Manor (one of the 26 hotels that make up the QHotels group). I spend my time split between attending college and fulfilling my hands-on role at the Stratford Manor.

2. What made the apprenticeship right for you?

I've always loved cooking and knew that's what I wanted to do. Initially I went down the A Level route but I soon discovered that class-based learning wasn't for me. Instead I decided to explore my passion for cooking by becoming a chef and both the Stratford Manor and the College are really supportive of my ambitions.

3. What has been your biggest achievement so far?

QHotels has offered so many opportunities for me to develop and challenge myself. I entered, and won, the QHotels' catering competition in 2016, which was amazing. I enjoy creating new dishes so to have my dish win and appear on the menu at all the hotels in the group is brilliant. QHotels also presented me with a beautiful set of cooks' knives, a celebration party and an internship at The French at the Midland Hotel in Manchester.

4. Where do you hope the apprenticeship will lead you?

My dream is to achieve a Michelin star and to one day own my own restaurant. I'm still learning every day but my apprenticeship and working with such highly experienced chefs at QHotels has given me a great foundation to build on.
