What happens at a QHotels Family Friendly hotel?

Happy, occupied kids having fun. Chilled out parents taking a breather. It's what every family needs once in a while.

I recently visited one of QHotels eight family friendly hotels, The Park Royal in Warrington, to find what families with young children can experience when they stay at their hotel during the school holidays.

I sat down with the hotels Operations Manager, James Pownall, to find out more:

Q. What can families expect when they first arrive at The Park Royal hotel?

A. We've created a fun children's check-in area, where the children  can use our children's step to reach the reception desk and complete a registration form. They'll also receive a FREE mocktail; voucher to enjoy in our restaurant. This will keep them occupied whilst the parents and busy checking the family in.

Q. Are there any activities children can do at the hotel?

A. Yes, each evening a different activity is run by a dedicated family ambassador to keep children occupied during their stay.

  • Games Room - we've compiled a room filled with lots of different games. Children can choose from a Wii console, giant skittles, board games, colouring plus much more.
  • Children's Splash Time in the Swimming Pool - families can head down to our health club and use the swimming pool during our dedicated children's splash times.
  • Shake a Mocktail  - parents can sit back and relax in our lounge whilst they watch over the children to mix up their very own Mocktail with our bar tender.
  • Pizza Making With the Chef - we're letting the children take control of their dinner and help them make a pizza of their choosing. Our chef rolls out the dough and the kids can choose to top it with their favourite toppings.
  • Family Film Club - to help the kids unwind after a busy day, we've put together our very own cinema complete with DVDs and tasty popcorn.
  • Summer Bug Hunt - in summer we'll take the kids outside and let them explore our grounds to search for creepy crawlies and wriggly bugs with their very own magnifying glass.
  • Cupcake Decorating - it's time to let the kids get creative as we let them decorate their own tasty cupcakes.

Q. What do kids enjoy the most whilst staying at the hotel?

A. A visit from our Cookie Monster! He delivers milk and cookies each night to the children before they go to bed. The kids really enjoy the treat and helps them get ready for bed.

Q. Are there any local family attractions near the hotel?

A. Yes, there are many popular family destinations a short distance from the hotel. We're close to Chester Zoo, Gulliver's Travels, Blue Planet Aquarium, Salt Works, Family Works to name a few. In addition, we also a fun picnic lunch complete with finger sandwiches and sausage rolls and so families don't have to worry about lunch when they're out.
