Our Top 5 Tips to make sure you are at your best in 2017!

Following a recent poll on our twitter account, the most popular New Year's resolution was to get fit and healthy. To help you achieve this goal in 2017 we have put together 5 simple tips.

1. Sleep

We all know we should get a good 8 hours sleep a night, but why? Well, Scientists have said that this length of sleep is important for:

• Decreasing the risk for health conditions
• Managing your hunger levels
• Maintaining your immune system
• Retaining memory

Why not try to get this amount of sleep soon and see how you feel?

2. Nutrition

Fruit and vegetable consumption is incredibly important to keep our bodies at their healthiest. If you struggle to fit in your 5 a day, we have the perfect solution - our Strawberry Zinger smoothie!

Our delicious Strawberry and Ginger smoothie recipe will give you the fruity boost you need!

Strawberries aren't just delicious, they are also one of the healthiest foods you can eat (or drink). Whilst Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties as well as aiding in digestion. These two ingredients paired together are an unstoppable healthy force.

• 2 cups almond milk, or why not try coconut milk?
• 2 cups baby spinach
• 2 cups strawberries
• 1 banana
• 1 tablespoon grated ginger, to taste

Simply blend together and ENJOY!

3. Exercise

It is recommended that we do 30 minutes of exercise per day. If you struggle to do this or simply are not sure what exercises are best for you, our PT Jake, from the Nottingham Belfry, has outlined a few helpful tips on our YouTube page 

4. Hydration

Our bodies are made up of 60% water and keeping this water balance is important for body temperature regulation, kidney function and brain function! Not to mention when our skin is dehydrated it is more susceptible to skin problems and wrinkling!

Although there is no universally recommended amount of water you should drink a day, most professionals advise to consume 2-3 litres per day. Are you up to this water challenge?

5. Fresh Air

What can be better for our bodies and minds than a walk in the great outdoors? Not only is the fresh air great for our lungs the peace and quiet will leave your mind feeling clear and refreshed!
