Crewe Hall, which this year celebrates 400 years since the first
brick was laid, is a Jacobean mansion located near Crewe in
Cheshire. Built between 1615 and 1636 for Sir Randolph Crewe, it
was one of the county's largest houses in the 17th century, and was
said to have "brought London into Cheshire". The hall was
extended in the late 18th century and extensively restored after a
fire in 1866 by architect E. M. Barry - son of Charles Barry,
best-known for his work on Westminster Palace and Highclere Castle
of Downton Abbey fame. Crewe Hall is considered among his
best works, alongside the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
Joanne Barrett, Group Operations Manager at QHotels says: "Any
experienced event planner will know that no matter how carefully
schedules, suppliers and speakers are organised, sometimes, things
just don't go to plan. With so many factors contributing to
success, it's the very nature of working in events.
"That's not to say when something doesn't go to plan, that the
event can't be successful, it's just about having a Plan B. Our
events coordinators across QHotels' 26 C&E venues work closely
with event organisers to plan for every eventuality, come rain or
shine, so hopefully our expert checklist will help event organisers
create a Plan B."
