Corporate Social responsibility at QHotels
At QHotels we take our corporate responsibility extremely
seriously. We are passionate about our role in the
conservation of the environment and investment in our local
communities. We recognise that environmental sustainability is
of the utmost importance to all of our customers, team members,
local communities and investors.
Since 2008, when we formed QHotels Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) Steering Group and started our journey on
sustainability, it has become the cornerstone of our business and
encompasses the way we do business each and every day.
Our efforts were recognised when we achieved the AA Eco Hotel
Group of the year award for 2011-12. This helped cement QHotels'
reputation as a company that delivers the highest conservation
environment standards.
Our approach
Headed up by Michael Purtill, Managing Director of QHotels, the
CSR steering group has representation from Directors of all key
areas of the business - HR, Marketing, Sales, Operations,
Procurement and Property - regular quarterly meetings are held to
review progress and set direction.
It is the board's intention to reduce the energy consumption and
CO2 emissions of the group, year on year by a combination of
sensible management and sound investment in proven energy reduction
projects. Since commencement of this policy, QHotels have reduced
carbon emissions by approximately 4,000 tonnes of C02.

Our Suppliers
At QHotels we choose to work with like minded businesses who
also strive to reduce waste and think and act 'green' as much as
possible.
One supplier is Orwak, a high quality waste handling of
products, made in Sweden since 1971. Orwak Environmental
Services, part of the PHS Group, is the sole distributor
of Orwak waste handling products in the UK. http://www.orwak.co.uk/
As a responsible company, the issue of egg supplies has
also been under review at QHotels for some time, and the
group's board has committed to working closely with all our
suppliers and third parties to transition to the use of 100% cage
free eggs and egg ingredients by 2022.
Our Hotels
We're delighted that each of our 26 QHotels
are Green Tourism Accredited with either a gold or silver rating.
In 2016, 21 of our hotels scooped Gold Accreditations and each
hotel maintained or improved its previous rating.
In addition, the lodges at Slaley Hall and Belton Woods
also received accolades for their outstanding sustainability
credentials. Our team is always looking at ways of improving
the environment, working with local businesses, looking out for
local residents and creating a fabulous experience for everyone who
visits QHotels.
Innovations at QHotels, recognised by the Green Tourism Business
Scheme, include ionised water cleaning, induction hobs and roof
garden terrace at The Midland in Manchester.
