Friday 27th April 2007
On Thursday 26th April Manchester’s most famous restaurant, The French, was crowned Restaurant of the Year at the Manchester Tourism Awards 2007.
The French restaurant, situated in The Midland hotel, opened in 1903 and has lead the way for stylish fine dining in Manchester city centre ever since.
The French is synonymous with style and is still a favourite with the Mancunians who know it so well, and now visitors to Manchester, and a whole new generation, are discovering the gem inside The Midland hotel.
Michael Magrane, General Manager of The Midland hotel says,
“To receive this award shows that The French has stood the test of time. 104 years after it opened it is still the most important fine dining restaurant in the city.”
He adds..
“The French has a very special ambience that gives a real ‘wow’ factor, and when people dine they enjoy the whole experience, from the welcoming staff, the food and service, right through to the atmosphere.”
The highly acclaimed Paul Beckley, Head Chef of The French, and his team, take the finest ingredients and gives them that extra special treatment for which the restaurant is famous. The menu at The French offers traditional cuisine with a contemporary twist, and the signature dishes, Châteaux Briand and Dover Sole, continue to delight diners.
The 2007 awards were organised by Marketing Manchester in conjunction with the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA). The awards recognise and reward the high levels of investment in quality and outstanding contributions to tourism.
