QHotels send its GMs Back to the Floor

QHotels is sending its GMs ‘Back to the Floor’ in a new initiative designed to help better understand and appreciate the role and needs of their front line staff.
The initiative will see GMs from across the 21 property group step into the shoes of receptionists, concierge, house-keepers, cleaners, waiters and event co-ordinators to allow them to learn more about the different pressures upon them and explore new ways to improve their roles and support them.
“Our employees are very important to us and by sending the GMs ‘back to the floor’ it gives the front-line staff an opportunity to raise any issues directly to the people who have the power to implement changes; changes which would help improve our employees’ role and consequently help to maintain the high level of service renowned across the QHotels group”, explains Elizabeth Howe, Director of Marketing for QHotels.
“This initiative will also help open the channels of communication and provide the management team with a better understanding of the roles of those on the ‘front line’ so to speak, helping to improve the overall running of each QHotels property”, concludes Howe.
The initiative rolled out across the group from March for the Summer 2008.
