QHotels Continues on Acquisition Trail with First Scottish Hotel

Leeds based QHotels has acquired The Westerwood Hotel from Morton Properties (Dundee) Ltd, its first Hotel in Scotland, increasing its portfolio of hotels to eight.
The 100 bedroom, four-star hotel is located in Cumbernauld, set within 400 acres of beautiful countryside, 12 miles north east of Glasgow. The hotel offers extensive leisure facilities including a magnificent 18 hole golf course, designed by Seve Ballesteros and Dave Thomas, tennis courts and a health, beauty and leisure club.

The hotel was acquired for an undisclosed sum and will, subject to planning, benefit from a £5million investment. This major project will include complete refurbishment of all public areas, the leisure club, restaurant and bar. The proposed work also includes provision of new conference facilities and an expansion of the accommodation to make The Westerwood Hotel one of the most outstanding hotels in the UK.
The hotel enjoys a superb location with easy access to the motorways, is only 20 minutes from Glasgow and Stirling, and just 40 minutes from Edinburgh.
In addition to The Westerwood Hotel, QHotels currently owns The Midland in Manchester, The Queens in Leeds, Chesford Grange in Warwickshire, The Park Royal in Warrington, Norton Manor in Winchester, Forest Pines in North Lincolnshire and the Cheltenham and Gloucester Chase Hotel in Gloucestershire.
QHotels plans to continue its rapid expansion programme over the next 12 months.
