QHotels acquires Cheltenham & Gloucester Moat House Hotel

Monday 16th January 2006

Leeds based QHotels has increased their portfolio of hotels to seven with the acquisition of the Cheltenham & Gloucester Moat House Hotel, Gloucestershire.

The Cheltenham & Gloucester Moat House has been acquired for an undisclosed sum and will benefit from a £3 million refurbishment which, subject to planning consent, will increase the hotels restaurant capacity, and refurbish the hotels bedrooms, conference and banqueting facilities, public areas and leisure facilities.

The name of the hotel was changed immediately on acquisition to the Cheltenham & Gloucester Chase Hotel.

Michael Purtill, Managing Director of QHotels commented: “The Cheltenham and Gloucester Chase Hotel is a great acquisition for our growing portfolio. The hotel is in an excellent location, at the foot of the Cotswolds, and a few minutes from junction 11a of the M5 and is also in a very good strategic location in relation to the other hotels in our portfolio. The hotel also has excellent facilities including extensive conference and leisure facilities.

“We believe that the new name relates well to the hotel, reflecting links to the horse racing traditions of the area, whilst at the same time creating a name which is distinct and memorable.”

QHotels currently own The Midland in Manchester, The Queens in Leeds, Chesford Grange in Warwickshire, The Park Royal in Warrington, Norton Manor in Winchester and Forest Pines in North Lincolnshire. The Cheltenham and Gloucester Chase Hotel is the seventh addition and the company is set to continue it’s rapid growth over the next 12 months.
