Norton Manor Adopts Two Charities for 2006

Monday 24th October 2005

At a recent Employee Consultative Committee meeting it was agreed that Norton Manor would adopt two local Charities for 2006 – Naomi House and The Gratton Trust both of which are based in Sutton Scotney.

Naomi House children’s hospice opened in June 1997 to provide respite care, terminal care and bereavement support for children and families from across the south of England. The Wessex Children’s Hospice Trust was originally set up in 1992 and by 1997 over £5 million had been raised to build and open Naomi House.

It now costs over £2 million a year to provide and extend their services, and with no statutory funding available, we are dependent upon voluntary and charitable support. The hospice provides care and support through good days, difficult days and last days to children, young people and their families from the counties of Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Surrey, West Sussex and Wiltshire.

The Hotel have just donated lots of items for Naomi House to use at their Christmas sales, and are looking to host two events during 2006 for them to promote to their supporters to raise funds.

The Gratton Trust is a registered charity set up to provide much-needed facilities for villagers living in and around the Dever Valley.

In the Spring next year the Hotel is hosting a Quiz night and buffet for the Gratton Trust together with a Ball later in the year.

Any internal fundraising events which staff may arrange, all money raised will be split between the two Charities. Watch this space for details of the forthcoming events.
