Fromm New York to The Chase
Wednesday 1st November 2006
QHotels is pleased to welcome Tom Fromm as the new GM at The Chase hotel in Cheltenham.
Tom Fromm joins The Chase Hotel, part of the QHotels group from the Imperial Hotel in Torquay, bringing a wealth of experience with him, and will be steering the hotel through their £3 million refurbishment and into an exciting new era.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Tom has always been involved in the hotel and hospitality industry, working in restaurant and hotels in Long Island, New York part time since he was 14. Tom graduated from the University of New York at Oneonta and went on to work the summer season in the Hampton’s and the winter season in Palm Beach, Florida. Tom worked his way up from Assistant Banqueting Manager to Food and Beverage Manager before becoming Operations Manager.
Tom moved to England when he married a British girl in 1987. He continued working in the hotel industry and met Michael Purtill, now Managing Director of QHotels, in 1995 who appointed Tom as General Manager at the Cheltenham Park Hotel in April 1996. Tom moved on to the Imperial Hotel in 1998 but has now been re-united with Michael Purtill with his appointment as General Manager of The Chase Hotel, formally known as Cheltenham and Gloucester Chase Hotel.
On his recent appointment Tom Fromm says, “I am delighted to join QHotels and be involved in the refurbishment project of The Chase. This is an exciting time for the hotel, and we are looking forward to seeing the transformation which is due for completion in April 2007”
The Chase was acquired by Leeds based QHotels group earlier this year who immediately put into place a £3 million refurbishment plan that will touch on every facet of the hotel, including each of the 120 bedrooms and 11 function rooms. The refurbishment will transform The Chase to give feel of a cosy country lodge through the use of natural materials such as stone, slate and rough hewn timbers, emboldened with autumnal colours.
