David Edwards is Midlands Golf Pro of the Year

This year the prestigious ‘Midlands Golf Pro of the Year Award’ has been awarded to David Edwards - The Director of Golf at the Forest Pines Golf and Country Club, North Lincolnshire.
The winner is chosen by nominations from fellow professionals, a high level of commitment to the Professional Golfer Association as well as achievements within the golfing arena. Previous winners of this award include Ryder Cup winner Peter Baker and world-renowned Lee Westwood, who won the award recently.
John Sewell, of the Professional Golfers Association, said: “David has a remarkable reputation amongst golfing professionals, having been one for over thirty years and he has a fantastic rapport with the public. We were particularly impressed with his breadth of experience, from giving beginner Golf lessons to winning professional tournaments and touring internationally with his Golf Trick Show.
This award represents an outstanding achievement for David and serves to underline the quality of teaching and facilities at the Forest Pines Golf and Country Club, where he has been for many years.”
The career of David Edwards has been highly illustrious, including 4th place in the 1981 European Tour School and participating in both the Open Championship and PGA Tour. He also hosts a world famous Golf Trick Show, performing at the Open Championships and most recently in Lagos, Nigeria, where he drives off a six-foot tee and executes a 200 yard putt.
David has also been the Captain for the Midlands region of the PGA and he became a fellow of the organisation this year, an accolade that recognises his commitment to grass-roots golf and teaching.
His expertise are a great asset to the thriving Forest Pines Golf and Country Club, which draws people with its golf and leisure facilities from nationwide.
David commented: “I am delighted to receive this award, it affirms the reputation of myself and Forest Pines locally and nationally.”
