A Dragon found in The Midland!
Monday 7th November 2005
The Wyvern is a legendary winged creature, similar to that of a European dragon but with only 2 legs instead of 4. It is said to have a barbed tail and is frequently found in medieval heraldry…..
The Wyvern is also the name of the stylish new bar due to open this Friday (11th November) at Manchester’s newly refurbished hotel, The Midland.
Since the beginning of 2005, The Midland has been undergoing a £15 million renovation, which has seen a complete visual transformation of the Hotel interior, including refurbishment of all existing bedrooms plus the addition of 8 new ones. The Wyvern is the latest stage of the plan to be completed and provides a welcome addition to the facilities and services at Manchester’s best loved hotel.
The new bar, situated at the front of the building overlooking Peter Street, was originally home to the Business Centre and Sales & Marketing office.
Interior Designer, Charles Leon, recognised the potential of the area when planning the design: “Using the space as a sales office seemed like a waste of a superb opportunity, it’s in a prime location in the Hotel looking out into the hustle and bustle of a busy City Centre. We decided it would be nice to create a haven for people to enjoy a drink while they watch the world go by; the idea is that it’s a place to relax and unwind in elegant yet comfortable surroundings.”
The new bar, named The Wyvern after the symbol of the Midland Railway Company, will also provide an additional meeting place serving up business breakfasts between 7.30am – 11am. Access to The Wyvern will be via the hotel, and the bar will be open all day until 11pm.
