£5 Million Investment at Telford Golf and Country Club Hotel
Monday 23rd April 2007
QHotels added Telford Golf and Country Club hotel to their portfolio of 21 hotels in November 2006. They have since pledged a significant investment of over £5 million into upgrading the venue in line with the luxury 4-star deluxe standards of the QHotels group, which includes The Midland hotel in Manchester.
The refurbishment, which is due to begin in the Spring (subject to planning and listed building consent), will see a substantial upgrading of all areas at the hotel, including the bedrooms, public areas, conference and event facilities, golf shop and changing rooms and the leisure facilities. There are also plans to further enhance the golf course over the next three years.
The investment will also see new facilities introduced at the hotel. In the leisure centre the addition of a relaxation room and six new treatment rooms offering a range of beauty treatments and therapies are planned, creating one of the best spa and leisure facilities in the area.
QHotels have always placed a strong emphasis on the quality of their Conference and Event facilities at each of their venues and the standards at Telford Golf and Country Club will be no exception. The events space will be equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology and extended to create a versatile venue able to cater for 270 guests for meals, or 300 delegates theatre style.
Gary Aymes, General Manager says:
“This is a very exciting time for Telford Golf and Country Club hotel. QHotels have recognised the fantastic potential here; the investment will see the venue become a fully refurbished, 4-star standard hotel with fabulous golf, leisure, conference and event facilities, and not forgetting a superb restaurant overlooking the famous Ironbridge Gorge.”
The investment at Telford Golf and Country Club hotel will also make a positive impact on the local area. It is expected that the improved and extended facilities will attract business from outside the region, and the management at QHotels anticipate at least ten new positions will be created on completion of the work, with a further fifteen over the following few months.
The refurbishment will be carried out in a staged basis, with the hotel remaining open throughout the renovations.
