New Regional GM for QHotels

QHotels are delighted to announce the well-deserved promotion of Mike Magrane, General Manager of The Midland hotel, to Regional General Manager for QHotels in the North of England.

Mike joined QHotels from Le Meridien in 2003 in the role as General Manager of The Queens hotel in Leeds, before moving across the Pennines in 2005 to take up the position as General Manager of The Midland in Manchester.

As Regional General Manager, Mike will still continue his management of The Midland, but will now also oversee the five other hotels in the region; The Queens in Leeds, The Park Royal in Cheshire, Aldwark Manor in York, Crewe Hall in Cheshire, and Tankersley Manor in Barnsley.

His new role will strengthen QHotels team and will boost the senior management structure of the group following the recent £180 million acquisition of the 12 strong Marston Hotel group in November 2006.

As Regional General Manager he will oversee and co-ordinate the actions of all the hotels in the region and ensure a smooth integration of the group, following the addition of Marston Hotels. Mike’s new position will allow him to provide support to the general managers at each hotel ensuring best practice throughout the group.

Having successfully managed the £15 million refurbishment of The Midland hotel, Mike will be in place to oversee the development plans of the recently acquired hotels in the region.

Mike is looking forward to his new role as Regional General Manager. He says: “When I joined QHotels they were just a group of 2, and in 3 years this has rapidly grown to 22 hotels. QHotels have some great venues in the North of England, each one unique, and I am excited to have the opportunity to be involved with each of them.”

To support Mike with his new role Martinus Louwerse has been promoted from Food & Beverage Manager to Hotel Manager at The Midland.

Martinus will be taking more ownership of the hotel responsibilities, and supporting the strategic development of the The Midland. In addition, replacing the role vacated by Martinus, Luke Angus has been promoted to Food & Beverage manager from his position as Conference & Events Manager.

QHotels not only believe in investing heavily in their properties but also in their staff. They aim to recruit, train and develop the very best people available, and continually implement a number of training initiatives to ensure guests are greeted with the same standard of professionalism and warm hospitality right across the Group.
