Access Statement

We aim to provide the highest standards of service to all our guests and we look forward to welcoming you to The Stratford and making your stay an enjoyable one. Facilities available for guests with disability needs are as follows:

Arrival

Directions to The Stratford are available by clicking here, or by calling the hotel on 01789 271000.

As you arrive at The Stratford, you will find approximately 100 parking spaces of which 2 are specifically reserved for blue badge holders. These are located directly outside the hotel's main entrance. There is a dropped level kerb and paved route from the disabled parking into the hotel with a push button door for assisted opening. The main hotel entrance is via an automatic revolving door that can be fully opened upon request. If you need assistance with luggage or equipment, our reception team or porters will assist 24 hours.

Reception

The Reception desk is located on the ground floor of the hotel in the entrance lobby. The reception desk is 109cm high with a lower level section at 66cm high, although check-in can also be completed whilst sitting at a table in the lounge if required.

You will be offered a personal check-in service with a full explanation of the hotel's facilities together with a familiarisation tour if required. Assistance is available to help take your luggage to your room.

Reception staff will also brief you on our evacuation policy and please note on your registration card if assistance is needed in the event of an evacuation.

The following accessible aids are available at Reception:

• Large Button Phone

• Vibrating Pad to assist waking guests with hearing disabilities in the event of a fire alarm

To the right of the main reception are the lifts to the first and second floor bedrooms.

Bedrooms

The Stratford Hotel has 2 purpose built accessible rooms on the ground floor. Twin or double bed combinations are available. In the bedroom there is transfer space and turning of at least 120cm either side of beds. The flooring in bedrooms is short pile carpet and flooring in bathrooms is tiled. Reading lamps are provided. Mini-bar fridges are supplied in each room and room service is 24 hours. Items of furniture can also be moved or removed on request.

The bathrooms are designed with a shower with a small lip to the shower tray, including a wall mounted drop down seat. Emergency pull cords link directly to reception from both the bedroom and bathroom.

In the event of fire alarm activation these rooms have both a sounder and a visual flashing light. In the event of an emergency a member of the team will assist with your evacuation if necessary. Fire evacuation advice is provided on the back of your bedroom door and a disabled refuge area is situated at the foot of the stairwell in the fire escape next to both accessible rooms, in case staff need to summon extra assistance during your evacuation.

Public areas

There are no steps or slopes on the main corridors and public areas on the ground floor.

All the restaurant, bar and lounge facilities at The Stratford Hotel are located on the ground floor making them easily accessible. All lifts have audible enunciation and tactile buttons at standard height.

Accessible toilet facilities are located in the lounge area on the ground floor.

There is good network coverage for mobile phones within the hotel. All networks work.

Conference, Banqueting & Meeting Rooms

Our meeting rooms are located on the ground floor and are fully accessible from Reception. Hearing loops are available upon request in advance. Lighting can be dimmed where required.

Please notify your conference or banquet for specific seating or staging requirements.

Accessible toilet facilities are located in the lounge area on the ground floor.

Outdoor Facilities

The patio area can be accessed via the rear entrance to the hotel, which is level and paved.

There are no outdoor facilities.

Alternative means of transport

If not travelling by car, the nearest bus stop is located at the front of the hotel. Bus routes and timetables can be given upon request. An accessible taxi service is available from 007 taxis who can be contacted on 01789 414007

The nearest train station is located next to the hotel, less than a five minute walk.

The town centre is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel entrance.
