Accessibility at The Queens Hotel

We aim to provide the highest standards of service to all our guests and we look forward to welcoming you to The Queens Hotel and making your stay an enjoyable one. Facilities available for guests with disability needs are as follows:

Arrival

Directions to The Queens Hotel are available by clicking here, or by calling the hotel on 0113 2431323

As you arrive at The Queens Hotel, there is a lay bay located directly outside the main entrance for dropping off and picking up only. This has a dropped kerb. There is a level, paved ramp from the disabled parking into the hotel where the main entrance has four steps up to a manual revolving door and a ramp leading to a wheelchair accessible side door. Assistance may be required for those wishing to use the wheelchair accessible side door. There is a secondary accessible entrance from within the train station. This door is electronically controlled by Reception with an intercom if assistance is required.

The main hotel car park, of which there are 80 spaces, is located below the hotel.  Guests should park their cars in the drop off point at the front of the hotel and a member of our Concierge team will valet park your car at The Queens Hotel.

If you need assistance with luggage or equipment, our team of porters and concierge are on duty 24 hours.

Reception

The Reception desk is located on the ground floor of the hotel in the entrance lobby. The reception desk is 112cm high although check-in can also be completed whilst sitting at the lounge furniture in the lobby area.

You will be offered a personal check-in service with a full explanation of the hotel's facilities together with a familiarisation tour if required. Assistance is available to help take your luggage to your room.

Reception staff will also brief you on our evacuation policy and please note on your registration card if assistance is needed in the event of an evacuation.

The following accessible aids are available at Reception:

•Portable Induction Loop for use at Reception

•Vibrating Pad to assist waking guests with hearing disabilities in the event of a fire alarm

•An evac chair is also available to enable staff to assist with the emergency
evacuation of disabled, if necessary.

In front of the reception and to the left of the concierge desk are the lifts to
all floors for bedrooms, restaurant and meeting rooms.

Bedrooms

The Queens Hotel has 6 purpose built disabled rooms located between floors two to seven. One of the bedrooms interconnects to a double room for use by a carer or children. Twin or double bed combinations are available.

In the bedroom there is transfer space and turning of at least 120cm either side of beds. The flooring in bedrooms is short pile carpet and flooring in bathrooms is tiled. Reading lamps are provided. Mini-bar fridges are supplied in each room and room service is available 24 hours. Items of furniture can also be moved or removed on request.

The bathrooms are designed with an accessible wheel-in shower / wall mounted drop down seat and appropriate grab rails. Emergency pull cords link directly to reception from the bathroom. Horizontal and vertical grab rails are positioned at the side of the toilet.

In the event of fire alarm activation these rooms have a sounder. In the event of an emergency a member of the team will assist with your evacuation if necessary. Fire evacuation advice is provided on the back of your bedroom door.

Public areas

There are no steps or slopes on the main corridors and public areas on the ground floor. The majority of the public areas are carpeted.

The restaurant is located on the lower ground floor and can be accessed by the two main passenger lifts. The hotel bar and lounge facilities are located on the ground floor but do have some steps but table service is offered.

All lifts have audible enunciation and tactile buttons at standard height.

Accessible toilet facilities are located on the lower ground floor and at ground floor level.

There is good network coverage for mobile phones within the hotel. All networks work.

The meeting rooms on the first floor are accessed via the lifts or staircase to the left of reception. Wheelchair ramps are used to access our ballroom.  The Pateley room, Charlotte and Rochester are
the only meeting rooms that cannot be accessed by wheelchair users.

Hearing loops are available upon request in advance. Lighting can be dimmed where required.
