Accessibility at Crewe Hall

At Crewe Hall our aim is to provide all our guests with the highest standard of service and facilities and we are committed to extending to you the warmest of welcome to our stunning hotel.


Upon arrival at Crewe hall you will approach the large entrance gates, entering through these will bring you to the front entrance of the hotel and to the main reception, which is located in the old hall.

Wheelchair access (avoiding steps) is available in the westwing and is located by turning left round the old hall and following the car park round to where there are blue marked disabled parking spaces and
the second reception/ check in area is located here- this reception desk however is not always manned, but there is a call for attention telephone located on the desk if required, and access to the old hall is available via lift along the hallway to the right (facing the building).

To access the guest parking facilities, make a left turn before entering through the entrance gates and this will take you around a number of parking bays, to access disabled parking carry on round the
car park and at the far end is a marked blue sign turning right at this sign will bring you to our disabled parking facilities.


The main reception desk is located on the ground floor of the hotel in the entrance lobby. The reception desk is 117cm in height, check in can also be completed at a more accessible desk which is 80cm high. During check in you will be offered a personal service which will include an explanation of the hotels facilities together with a familiarisation tour at your request. Luggage assistance is also available to help with transportation of your luggage to your room. Reception staff will also brief you on our evacuation policy and please note on your registration card if assistance would be required in the event of an evacuation.

The following accessible aids are available at reception:
•Portable induction loop (for use at reception)
•Large button phone (easy to see buttons)
•Vibrating pad to assist walking guests with hearing disabilities in the event of a fire alarm
To the left of the reception is access to the lifts to all floors for bedrooms, leisure club and meeting rooms.

At Crewe Hall we have 6 purpose built disabled bedrooms on the ground floor, four of these  rooms interconnect to a double room for the use of a carer or family member. Twin or double bed combinations
are available. In the bedroom there is transfer and turning space of at least 120cm either side of the beds. The flooring within the bedroom is short pile carpet and the bathroom floor is tiled.

There is a large, wide walkway leading from the door in to the room. The bathroom has a wheelchair accessible shower, with a surrounding shower curtain which can be opened and closed from either side,
and the shower contains a chair connected to back wall for support. The whole bathroom is fitted with both horizontal and vertical grab rails around the sink area, shower and toilet. The toilet also has a
cushioned back for extra support. The rooms light switches are lower for wheelchair height and there are fitted desk lamps above the bed with switches either side. The rooms also have accessible coffee

In the event of a fire alarm activation these rooms have both a sounder and a visual flashing light. In the event of an emergency a member of the team will assist with your evacuation if necessary. Fire evacuation advice is provided on the back of your bedroom door and a disabled refuge area is indicated on the plan in case our staff need to summon extra assistance during your evacuation.

Public areas

•There are no steps or slopes on the main corridors and public areas on the ground floor. All  of the restaurant, bar and lounge facilities at Crewe Hall hotel are located on the ground floor for easy access.
•All the lifts have tactile buttons.
•Accessible toilet facilities are located at the main hall first' second floor' westwing ground' brassiere ground' conference ground' first floor, leisure ground floor.
•There is good network coverage for mobile phones within the hotel (all networks work)

Conference, Banqueting & Meeting Rooms

Our meeting rooms in the events centre are located on the ground and first floor and are fully accessible and the upstairs conference facilities have lifts and a staircase; disabled toilet facilities are available on both the ground and first floor. Meeting rooms within the old hall are located on the first and second floor and the lift is located to the left of reception.
•Hearing loops are available upon request in advance.
•Lighting can be dimmed where required, by asking a member of staff.
•Accessible toilets are located on the ground and first floor.
•Please notify our conference or banqueting staff for specific seating staging requirements.

Reflections Leisure and Spa

The leisure club is located on the ground floor with easy access and surrounding footpaths to the Reflections main entrance from the leisure car park. A member of our leisure team will show you the
facilities and assist with access to the swimming pool and spa. If required a hoist is available to gently lower you in and out of the pool and spa bath.

A designated accessible toilet and changing area is located within the leisure club, as well as a wheel in shower room with a drop down seat and grab rails. Access to the poolside is on the same level
and there are steps with a handrail leading in to the shallow end of the pool. Both the sauna and steam room are accessible with a door width of 85cm and seating is provided in both areas.

Outdoor information

The patio area can be accessed via the front steps leading toward the main reception entrance or it can be reached via the terrace reception, down three small steps leading out and following it round by
turning left. And the patio is level paved so there is no difficulty for wheelchair users. There are no outdoor facilities but there are attractive gardens surrounding the hotel which is open to all guests.

Alternative means of transport

If not travelling by car, the nearest bus stop is located at the top of the main drive and the bus routes from here take you to Crewe and Hanley.

The nearest train station is located within Crewe. And the town centre is just 30 minutes' walk from the hotel entrance.
