HEAD CHEF OF THE FRENCH BY SIMON ROGAN RECIEVES PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

The Midland is celebrating after Adam Reid, Head Chef at The French by Simon Rogan scooped a prestigious Caterer & Hotelkeeper Acorn Award, making him one of the top four young chefs in the country.

Recognising the biggest prospects in the hospitality industry under the age of 30, Adam received his award at a celebration ceremony held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire.

It has been an exciting few weeks for The Midland. This latest accolade follows The Food and Travel Reader Awards which revealed The French has been shortlisted for Outside of London Restaurant of the Year, and The Midland for City Hotel of the Year.

Adam Reid, Head Chef of The French said: "I feel really honoured to have been awarded an Acorn Award. The French has brought me on an incredible journey over the last 18 months, and having grown up in Manchester, I'm so proud to be part of one of its most iconic restaurants.
He continued: "Having the opportunity to work alongside Simon Rogan has been a career landmark, and with his guidance I want The French to continue winning awards."

Nominated by his peers for making a big impression in the restaurant industry, Adam was praised for his flair and passion, and continuing Simon Rogan's great work in putting Manchester firmly back on the foodie map.

Michael Magrane, General Manager at The Midland said: "We're delighted that Adam has been recognised by this coveted Acorn Award. He has done a fantastic job in creating a culinary experience that cannot be found elsewhere in the city.

He continued: "The French has gone from strength to strength since the doors reopened in March 2013, and this is largely a result of Adam's talent in the kitchen. We're extremely lucky to have one of the UK's finest chefs leading The French team and he truly deserves this recognition."

The French by Simon Rogan perfectly combines its breath-taking heritage setting with progressive cooking.  Whilst the venue is steeped in history, the menu is very much eclectic modern British cuisine, which is consistently delivered to a high standard.
