Matthew Lloyd Head Chef at The Park Royal hotel in Warrington, one of QHotels 21 award winning hotels, has been shortlisted for 'Apprentice Mentor of the Year' at The 2012 Hospitality Guild Apprenticeship Awards.
The awards, which celebrate the achievements of apprentices working in hospitality, will be announced at a Parliamentary Reception with Matthew Hancock MP, Minister for Skills, at the House of Commons on 6th December.
QHotels places importance on training and developing its staff and has created initiatives such as The Chef Development Programme which aims to develop the skills of kitchen staff at all levels.
Matthew aged 40 has worked as a chef for 20 years, is passionate about sharing the knowledge he has acquired over the years with apprentices and thrives on producing great food.
Matt said: "I am really happy to have been shortlisted for this award. In this industry, training and skill development are fundamental to career progression. I received some fantastic training and advice when I was first starting out as a chef and it feels good to be able to pass on my skills and watch young apprentices progress."
