The 150-seat restaurant, with 50-cover destination bar, replaces
The Colony at the prestigious Manchester property, but it marks an
entirely new avenue for Rogan with the introduction of more varied,
international style and menus.
Named after Mr Cooper whose house and garden sat on the site
back in 1819, the hotel chose the name for the second restaurant to
reflect their history and heritage, something they remain extremely
proud of. Mr Cooper was a popular figure in Manchester, serving the
local community with the sale of fresh food.
Mike Magrane, General Manager at The Midland, said: "The
restaurant will bring a completely new concept to the market, and
represent a break away from Simon's current British repertoire by
offering a more international flavour. It is going to be a
more informal offer than The French and will appeal to a wide
Simon Rogan added: "Mr Cooper's is going to be an exciting new
challenge for us - it's a bigger site than we have done before and
we will be spreading our culinary reach beyond our usual UK-only
ingredients, taking influences from all over the world."
This exciting announcement follows the
reopening of 50-seat Restaurant, The French, which Rogan reopened
last month to rave reviews. The Colony will close in the summer for
an extensive refurbishment, reopening as Mr Cooper's House &
Garden in September 2013.
