The Westerwood Course

The Par 72 Championship course at The Westerwood  was built in 1989 and was designed by Seve Ballesteros and Dave Thomas. From the medal tees it measures 6263 yards, but for the more adventurous you could try our championship tees at a staggering 7011 yards.

The course is only a short drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh yet it sits, nestled amidst the beautiful surroundings of the Campsie and Kilsyth hills. Needless to say, the views are spectacular, and as you look back down the fairway from the 17th green it is easy to forget any errant shots and simply enjoy one of the many fabulous vistas the course offers. The front nine are a great test for the majority of golfers with many stretching Par 4s, whilst the back nine challenges you to bring your best short game with you. The signature hole is the par 3, 15th,   which at 165 yards from the medal tee it is by no means the longest par 3, but the green is surrounded by trouble and will punish any wayward tee shots. With water in front of the green and a 60ft rock face directly behind it, the setting is truly stunning.

After your game the hotel provides all of the relaxation that you will need. The Club Bar and Grill, overlooks the 9th and 18th greens and is therefore the ideal spot to sit and enjoy a well earned refreshment. Or you may prefer to make use of the Spa, Gym and Pool as an alternative way to recharge your batteries before another round. For those visitors who wish to stay over, the bedrooms are both luxurious and spacious, the breakfasts are plentiful and the hotel bar is welcoming into the wee sma’ hours so there is ample time to celebrate the putts that dropped and reminisce over the ones that slid past!

Good luck and enjoy the challenge!
