We often find that once our guests arrive, they're in no hurry to leave and will happily spend their entire break in their room, in the spa, in the gym, the bar, the restaurants and in the grounds. However, if you can bear to tear yourself away from this 4 star gorgeousness for a while, there's lots to enjoy in the immediate vicinity (we wouldn't want to send you too far afield in case you get withdrawal symptoms).

We're afraid you could find yourself torn between the high voltage city attractions of Manchester and Liverpool – guess that depends where your football allegiance lies. Nearby Chester has historic charm wall to wall, with a cathedral and zoo to boot. Plus there's the thrills and spills of Chester races, Chester Zoo, Liverpool's art galleries in its  year as Capital of Culture and Beeston Castle too.

We could list the pubs, restaurants, theatres, adventure play grounds, botanic gardens, parks, woodland, and walks in lovely Cheshire countryside nearby too. But we don't want to go on.

You might not have time to fit all of that little lot in, but then you do have the perfect excuse to come back again. Soon.
