Gorgeous Gazebo Brides! New outdoor civil wedding licence for The Oxford Belfry

The Oxford Belfry near Thame and part of award-winning hotel group QHotels announced today that the beautiful stone Gazebo in the grounds of the hotel has been newly licensed to host civil wedding ceremonies.  The elegant stone structure, one of only a few outdoor approved premises in the area, can now be used by couples looking to make the most of the 17 acres of landscaped gardens and charming backdrop of the hotel.

The 154-bedroom hotel has a range of rooms available for intimate gatherings or large receptions with 11 of them licensed for civil ceremonies. Large wedding breakfasts of up to 280 can be catered for in the College Suite with its easy access and stunning view over the central courtyard where the Gazebo is situated, more modest ceremonies can choose from the Somerville or Merton Rooms, each of which holds up to 120 guests, whilst smaller gatherings can plump for the likes of The Orangery or The Brimpton Room which cater for 60 and 30 guests respectively. 

“We are very fortunate at the hotel that we have such a wide selection of suites which are able to cater for receptions and ceremonies of all sizes and are delighted that we can now add the Gazebo as an outdoor option .” commented Julian White, General Manager at The Oxford Belfry. “Over the last 12 months we have received an increasing number of enquires about hosting weddings outside however English law states that in order to be granted a licence there must be a permanently built fixed structure with a roof.  The Gazebo meets all of these requirements yet at the same time the slim open columns and ornate balustrade also enables the bridal couple to feel they are getting married in our beautiful gardens. One bride has already booked the Gazebo for her wedding next year, so we are all just hoping she has good weather!”

The Gazebo can be booked for civil wedding services for up to 80 guests with seats on the lawn in front of the Gazebo which holds the bride, groom and registrar. Wedding packages at The Oxford Belfry start from £48 per person and in celebration of their new civil wedding ceremony licence the hotel are currently offering a 10% discount off any wedding booked for 2011/2012 (terms and conditions apply).
