The Midland shortlisted at Catey’s Awards

Mike Magrane, General Manager of Manchester’s iconic Midland Hotel, has beat off stiff competition from some of the UK’s best hotel talent to be shortlisted as one of the top three hoteliers in the country.

The prestigious Catey’s Awards recognises the talented individuals and establishments that have made a difference to the hospitality industry. The winners were announced this week at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel and although The Midland’s Mike Magrane was just pipped to the title of General Manager of the Year by Phillip Newman-Hall, General Manager of Manoir aux Quat Saisons, he was the only General Manager from the North of the country to be recognised.

With over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, Mike Magrane has helped to build on the hotel’s success and increase revenue during the recent tough economic times.

Mike’s shortlist is testament to the dedication of his team at The Midland to maintain the hotel’s infamous high standards.

Discussing his success at this year’s Catey’s Awards, Mike said: “I was extremely proud to be voted in the top three for The General Manager of the year award. The Midland Hotel is historic to Manchester, and it’s only with the help of my great team, that we continue to grow and build on our success.”
