Make a date with the new menu at Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Resort

Being only a few miles away from the major fishing port of Grimsby and within close proximity of the seaside resorts of Bridlington and Cleethorpes, is it any wonder that fish should play a major role in the new menus launched this week by Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort.

Executive Chef Paul Montgomery has excelled himself with the introduction of not one, but three brand new menus covering each of the three dining options available at the hotel – the flagship Eighteen57 Restaurant, The Grill and The Pines Bar. Each of the menus carries a diverse and exciting choice of starters, mains and desserts and all feature at least two signature dishes based on locally produced and sustainable produce.

 “With many of the worlds fish stocks close to extinction our new menus have been produced with sustainability in mind and many of the more endangered species such as Cod do not feature for this reason.” commented Chris Cottam, General Manager at Forest Pines. “Provenance, local suppliers and seasonality are all absolutely key to our food philosophy, which forms a wider part of our environmental policy. We are very proud that, as a hotel, we have been awarded silver in the Green Tourism Business Awards and recently received another audit in our pledge to achieve gold.  Local provenance food is something we are keen to feature and our proximity to the fishing port of Grimsby means we are able to serve dishes featuring the finest local seafood.  It is our aim to support local suppliers where possible hence featuring ingredients such as Lincolnshire sausages, lamb and beef, not to mention the famous Traditional Grimsby Smoked Fish which was awarded a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) by the European Union.”

There are three dining options at Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort open to guests and non residents alike, with each menu designed to appeal to different tastes and different budgets. Eighteen57 is the flagship restaurant. Open from Tuesday to Saturday it features a sophisticated array of local dishes from Grimsby hot smoked salmon, to Lincolnshire Red 28 day matured beef fillets and a selection of local cheeses, Lincolnshire diary ice creams and tempting desserts. The gourmet tasting menu, which changes regularly, allows diners to experience a six course menu of some of the chef’s culinary highlights and it is the perfect restaurant for a romantic meal or special occasion. The Grill offers a relaxed, more informal family dining option with brasserie style classics such as Grimsby Haddock in crispy beer batter and gourmet bison burgers.  Finally The Pines Bar is an all-day dining outlet serving a wide range of foods from Lincolnshire ham broth with pease pudding to Lincolnshire sausages and giant Yorkshire puddings, all in a relaxed environment with views overlooking the golf course and the option to dine al fresco in the summer on the open terrace.
