BRIAN JOHNSTONE MEMORIAL TROPHY - CRICKET SPEAKER OF THE YEAR

Our 3 cricketing legends will each get 20 minutes to win you over and gain your vote. Only 1 of them will be crowned The Cricket Speaker of the Year and take home the coveted Brian Johnstone Memorial Trophy. Our 3 contestants include:

Mike Gatting -

Gatting was one of the most prolific batsmen in English domestic cricket during his 23 year career. He played with England between 1977 to 1995, captaining us in 23 Test matches between 1986 and 1988.

Dickie Bird MBE -

Born in Barnsley, Dickie played youth Cricket with a certain Geoffrey Boycott before signing for his beloved Yorkshire in 1956.

He then went on to become the most respected umpire in cricket history presiding over 66 Test Matches, 69 One Day Internationals and 3 World Cup Finals !

Graeme ` Foxy ` Fowler -

Foxy is former Lancashire, Durham and England. He made his Test debut in 1982 when 16 England players were banned for three years for participating in the rebel tour of South Africa during the apartheid era. He played 21 Tests and 26 One Day Internationals in total and is a fantastic speaker.

Your host for the afternoon is former Kent and England Captain - Chris Cowdrey.
