Principal Rooms

Oak Parlour
Particularly interesting because of the original Jacobean panelling that survived the great fire of 1866. A perfectly proportioned room entirely wainscoted in oak with a decorated ceiling.

Sheridan
Originally Lord Crewe’s dining hall. The most remarkable feature of this room is the profusely carved oak screen, which gives the room the appearance of a college hall. The room is spacious, lofty, and has a magnificently decorated ceiling.

Carved Parlour
So named after the carved wood wainscot with its highly decorated frieze above, with relief statuary, crowned by a wonderful bust of Sir Ranulph Crewe the original builder of the Hall in the 17th century.

Great Library
One of the loveliest rooms in the Hall with stained glass panels of Charles 1, Elizabeth 1 and James 1 completing the frieze at the western end of the room and an amazingly intricate plaster strapwork ceiling with drop pendants.

Drawing Room
With a very fine strapwork ceiling and a chimneypiece of marble, jasper and onyx, a succession of eminent literary, social and political personages have been entertained here by the Crewe’s in years gone by.

Long Gallery
This is the largest room in the Hall, seating up to 200. The traditional use for the Long Gallery in Jacobean times was for games, dancing and winter time exercises. In 1880 it functioned as the Crewe family Portrait Gallery.

Nantwich, Thomas and Hatton.
Smaller, but still elegant and spacious rooms, ideal for a Private Dinner for up to 20 guests.
