Crewe Hall is a magnificent, beautiful and dramatic venue, which adds prestige and a unique sense of occasion to a corporate event. Seat of the Earls of Crewe from 1616 to 1922 and then owned until 1998 by the Queen as part of the Estate of the Duchy of Lancaster, Crewe Hall is a discreetly up-dated stately home of luxury and splendour.
It stands in vast grounds approached through a wrought-iron gated entrance surmounted by Jacobean stone carving. The ornamentation is reflected throughout the exterior, from the balustraded terraces to the tip of the West Wing tower.
The Hall’s interior is exquisite; there is magnificent panelling, marble fireplaces, intricate carvings, ornate plasterwork, stained glass, antique furniture and furnishings and a staircase regarded as one of the finest specimens of Elizabethan architecture. The various, excellently equipped meeting rooms are equally impressive.
The largest are the Long Gallery, used in Jacobean times for games, dancing and exercising and the Drawing Room with strapwork ceiling and chimneypiece of marble, jasper and onyx.
One of the loveliest rooms with a theatre style capacity of 85 and dining for 50 is the Great Library. It has a huge collection of books, ornate pendant ceiling and a frieze containing stained glass panels of Charles I, Elizabeth I and James I.
