2010 Resource Conservation Achievements

• Despite the severe winter we managed to contain the increase in utility consumption to just 3.6%
• We achieved the Carbon Trust Standard accreditation in 2010/11 and registered for the Carbon Reduction Commitment.  We remain committed to be in the top half of the National Carbon Reduction league table.
• Email alerts have been set up to target and monitor utilities in the hotels using the half hourly data available.
• Evaluated the potential for Energy saving technologies and are looking to implement boiler controls and voltage optimisation technologies throughout the estate. 
• All exposed hot water services pipe work has been insulated at all the Hotels in the group
• All maintenance teams attended an Energy management workshop.  An internal league table remains an effective tool for driving improved energy management.

2011 Resource Conservation Aims

• To reduce energy consumption by 15% overall at each hotel by comparison with our benchmark year of 2008.
• To gradually install LED lighting to appropriate areas of the Hotels
• To include LPG and diesel fuels on the half hourly data web sites.
• To implement improved energy management systems and processes
• To evaluate further energy saving techniques and technologies
