Corporate Social responsibility at QHotels
At QHotels we take our corporate responsibility extremely
seriously. We are passionate about our role in the
conservation of the environment and investment in our local
communities. We recognise that environmental sustainability is
of the utmost importance to all of our customers, team members,
local communities and investors.
Since 2008, when we formed QHotels Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) Steering Group and started our journey on
sustainability, it has become the cornerstone of our business and
encompasses the way we do business each and every day. Our efforts
were recognised when we achieved the AA Eco Hotel Group of the year
award for 2011/12. This helped cement QHotels' reputation as a
company that delivers the highest conservation environment
standards. We're also proud that all of our 21 hotels are GTBS
accredited.
Our approach
Headed up by Michael Purtill, Managing Director of QHotels, the
CSR steering group has representation from Directors of all key
areas of the business - HR, Marketing, Sales, Operations,
Procurement and Property - regular quarterly meetings are held to
review progress and set direction.
It is the board's intention to reduce the energy consumption and
CO2 emissions of the group, year on year by a combination of
sensible management and sound investment in proven energy reduction
projects. Since commencement of this policy in 2008, QHotels have
reduced carbon emissions by approximately 4,000 tonnes of C02.
